Our Deciduous Trees

Deciduous trees lose their leaves in winter. They play an important role in the garden, providing shade in summer and letting sunlight through in winter. They can also provide homes for local wildlife such as birds and insects. In Toowoomba, we recommend choosing a species that is native to our area, such as:

  • Bottle tree: Also known as the “boab”, this tree can grow up to 15 metres tall and is known for its distinctive, swollen trunk.
  • Red gum: A fast-growing tree that can reach heights of 30 metres or more. It has bright green leaves and produces red flowers in spring.
  • Mulberry tree: Perfect for small gardens, the mulberry tree only grows to around eight metres tall. It has dark green leaves and produces edible berries in summer.
